A saute pan is a pan similar to frying pan, but less flared in vertical sides. saute pans are comes with a lid. While a saute pan can also be used as a frying pan, it is designed for lower heat cooking methods.

A saute pan is a large pan with high sides (usually 10-12 inches (250-300 mm).

It is used for many purposes on the stovetop, but primarily for sautéing in some kitchens. Saute pan is one of the versatile containers in Italian cooking, used for a wide variety of tasks and heats, as the big pot allows quick dish and large quantities of ingredients to be in simultaneous contact with the base of the pan. Simultaneously, the high volume will handle completed sauces, high vegetable numbers, and so on.

To allow even heat distribution, a good saute pan should be of reasonably heavy construction and have a tight-fitting cover to help contain heat. Non-stick surfaces will be marginally more comfortable to clean but less durable than other materials will hinder proper heat distribution.

What is the difference between a frying pan and a saute pan?

The difference in the pan(s) is the width & depth. A frying container will be broader and deeper than a saute pan.
Let’s take a look at each technique: To fry, you are emerging your item into a quantity of boiling oil and the oil is mainly cooking the food.

To saute, however, the pan cooks the food and the fat (butter or oil) is used as a garnish, that is, for flavour and to keep the food from sticking to the pan.
