Enjoy a healthy twist on the traditional apple and berry crumble! With the addition of oats and whole fruit, this dessert offers almost one-quarter of our daily fibre needs.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Cup rolled oats
- 60g Butter softened
- 1/4 Cup self-raising flour
- 1/4 Cup Coconut, desiccated
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 125g Mixed berries (frozen or fresh)
- 3 Medium green apples, unpeeled
- 2 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. raw sugar
- 2 Tbsp. water
METHO
- Pre-heat oven to moderate (180°C)
- Slice apples into cubes and place into a saucepan with berries, water, cinnamon and sugar
- Allow apples to simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes or until softened, stirring occasionally
- In a separate bowl, add the rolled oats, butter, self-raising flour, coconut and honey
- Rub ingredients together with fingers until well combined
- Add softened apple to a small-medium baking dish
- Sprinkle crumble mixture on top of the apples
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown
